X. INTERNATIONAL ISLAMIC LAW GRADUATE STUDIES SYMPOSIUM

The Tenth International Islamic Law Graduate Studies Symposium, hosted by Istanbul University Faculty of Theology, Department of Islamic Law, is scheduled to take place on October 31- November 1 with the collaboration of Sophia Islamic Institute, Istanbul Daru'l-Fünûn Ilahiyat Foundation, Ilim Yayma Foundation, and Ensar Foundation.

The International Graduate Studies Symposium on Islamic Law offers a platform for master's and doctoral students from various disciplines to present and engage in discussions concerning their research and ideas on Islamic law with fellow scholars. This aims to enhance the quality of research and ideas, while also fostering interaction and integration among emerging Islamic law researchers, paving the way for knowledge transfer and collaboration within the field.

The symposium, which is open to master's or doctoral students, will focus on Islamic economics and finance at the intersection of economics and fiqh. In this framework, studies on the main issues of Islamic economics such as Islamic economic thought and history, Islamic banking and capital market practices, non-bank interest-free financing techniques, Islamic finance and FinTech, crypto monetary assets, Islamic insurance, digital assets, intellectual property and qualified intellectual title deed, contemporary public zakat practices and contemporary waqf practices, operating-management techniques, Islamic economic thought and history will be prioritized. Additionally, the symposium will feature classical and modern debates in other domains of Islamic law.

It is crucial that the papers submitted to the symposium are original and address contemporary issues or challenges in Islamic economics and Islamic law from an Islamic legal standpoint. Rather than descriptive texts, papers that problematize issues, possess a specific focus, and propose solutions are expected.

Abstracts must not exceed 350 words, and applications should be submitted through https://ihls.istanbul.edu.tr/tr/_ All submitted texts will undergo a refereeing process, with acceptances announced following the evaluation of referee reports.
